Joseph Disepolo said he wanted to put all rumors that he was over the hill and couldn't compete at a high level anymore to rest. Mission accomplished.

At the age of 35, the Chicago White Sox star was at the top of his game all season long and has won the 2049 American League Most Valuable Player Award.

The veteran captured the award with a .322 batting average and a .452 on-base percentage this year. In 137 games he piled up 158 hits, 25 doubles, 3 triples, 39 home runs, 100 RBIs and 109 runs scored.

He received 29 first place votes out of a possible 30. Matt Altieri of the Toronto Blue Jays finished second in voting, while Joey Pacheco of the Montreal Expos finished third.
