Friday, December 3rd , 2049
Washington State University is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by Steve Cooper.
The 19-year-old hurler was dominating against the Ohio State University Buckeyes, leading the Cougars to a 12-0 win at Bailey-Brayton Field today.
"I could tell early on that it was going to be a long day for us," Ohio State University manager Jimmy Jacquot said afterward. "He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."
Cooper had 4 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks en route to the no-hitter.
"Yeah, this was a special day for me," Cooper said. "I had my good stuff and good movement. Good location, too. Even when I made a mistake, I got away with it today."
This year Cooper has registered 10 wins and 6 losses in 20 starts with a 2.18 ERA while registering 97 strikeouts and 28 walks in 123.2 innings.
