Velazquez Boosts Hit Streak to 20 Games Friday, December 10th , 2049 The streak is alive and well -- at least for today. Francisco Velazquez did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park today. For the last 20 games in a row, the 19-year-old second baseman has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions beat the Clemson University Tigers 7-3 today. "I'm happy I kept the streak going," Velazquez told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Pennsylvania State University clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Francisco Velazquez singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 6th and walked in the 8th. Presently Velazquez is batting .302 with 111 hits and 17 home runs. He has knocked in 57 runs and scored 75 times. |
