Oetker Raps 3 HR Against Majors
Saturday, July 10th , 2049
Winnipeg Goldeyes first baseman Terry Oetker put on a dazzling display of power today at Winnipeg International Baseball & Gold Complex against the London Majors. In the 6-4 Goldeyes victory Oetker penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," London manager Curt Johnson said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 22-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Oetker said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Terry Oetker grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Tony Ortiz in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off James Marker in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Josh Nelson in the 10th.
In 50 games this season Oetker is batting .311 with 56 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 43 runs and driven in 43.
