Spitzbarth Bashes 5 Base Hits
Saturday, July 17th , 2049
Brockton right fielder Isaiah Spitzbarth had a big day at Brockton Fields today against the New Jersey Devils. The 20-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led the Rox to a 8-1 triumph over New Jersey.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Spitzbarth said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Isaiah Spitzbarth singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
In his stats this season, Spitzbarth has posted a batting average of .227 with 41 hits in 181 at-bats, 10 home runs and 24 RBIs. He has also scored 20 runs, walked 10 times and compiled a .267 OBP.
