A Day for the Record Books: Chmieleski Hits 4 HR
Tuesday, October 5th , 2049
Nothing could stop Zach Chmieleski today -- certainly not the Paris Cubs pitching staff.
The 25-year-old first baseman for the Chester Pirates sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Paris Baseball Complex and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Pirates took a 10-2 win over the Cubs.
"In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Cubs manager Cesar Peralta said later. "He clobbered us."
Chmieleski's dream game included 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 homers, 5 runs driven in and 4 runs scored.
"I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Chmieleski told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys."
Zach Chmieleski hit a solo-shot off Tyler McCoy in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tyler McCoy in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Brian Jarrett in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Francisco Landin in the 8th.
So far this season Chmieleski has 67 home runs and a .363 batting average.
