Madison Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Friday, October 22nd , 2049 The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Ballpark of Madison as the Round 1 stretched to the final game. It was the Madison Brewers feeling the thrill of victory, with a 3-2 win over the Tijuana Toros, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Quarter-Finals. "There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Tijuana manager Leo Portillo. "Congratulations to Madison, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight." Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was left fielder Danny Roberts, who was named MVP. He hit .320 with a .370 on-base percentage. He had 5 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 6 runs. "We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said. The Quarter-Finals matchups and schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
