Skovgaard Brilliant, Fans 15 Monday, October 25th , 2049 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Ib Skovgaard, the Miami Beach Marlins topped the Calgary Flames today by a score of 6-1 at Flames Stadium. The 21-year-old Skovgaard brought his top game to the mound, striking out 15 batters while allowing 1 hit and giving up 1 walk. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Flames manager Johnny Cueto said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." Skovgaard has gone 10-2 this season with an ERA of 1.49 and 217 strikeouts in 120.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .131 against him. |
