Whitling Grabs WL Reliever of the Year Award Saturday, November 27th , 2049 He may only be 20, but Doug Whitling of the Miami Beach Marlins has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Western League. The reliever was today named the WL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2049. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 32 saves in 50 relief appearances and 80 strikeouts in 53 innings. He had a record of 6-1 to go with his 0.85 ERA. He received 29 first place votes out of a possible 30. Joey Mallandaine of the Victoria Capitals finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Carlos Florez of the Kelowna Heat finished third.
