Santanello Goes Long 3 Times Tuesday, July 5th , 2050 Iowa Cubs first baseman Brad Santanello slugged three home runs against the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Braves spoiled his day by defeating the Cubs, 21-11. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game Brad had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Iowa manager Steven Duggar. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing Brad, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Santanello was 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Santanello said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." Brad Santanello hit a two-run home run off Tim Kull in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tim Kull in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Dennis Holifield in the 7th and struck out in the 8th. Currently Santanello has 12 home runs and a .283 batting average. |
