Kelly Shackles Salt Lake Friday, July 15th , 2050 Fred Kelly subdued the Salt Lake Bees, 4-0, pitching a 7-hit gem for the Norfolk Tides at Smith's Ballpark. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Norfolk skipper Zelasko Pye said afterward. Kelly registered 9 strikeouts and issued no walks in his superb performance. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Salt Lake manager Butch Cortez after the defeat. Kelly has made 3 starts, tossed 26.1 innings, struck out 22 batters and walked 4. His record is 2-3 with a 3.08 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .216 batting average. |
