Injured Carranza to Quit Game

Choking back tears, Alfredo Carranza announced his retirement today. Carranza suffered a torn labrum on 09/19/2050. The Indianapolis starting pitcher said, "Baseball has been such a huge part of my life and I am going to miss it. Though my playing days are over, I hope I can find a way to continue to be a part of it."
So far this year Carranza has made 22 starts, tossed 119.1 innings, struck out 120 batters and walked 68. His record is 3-12 with a 4.83 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .263 batting average.
