Hyde Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Saturday, May 7th , 2050 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Matt Hyde today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Regions Field and paced the Barons to a 12-0 win over the Erie SeaWolves. After his dynamite batting performance, the Birmingham first baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Matt Hyde singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th. This season Hyde is batting .317 with 15 RBIs, 10 runs scored and 1 home run. |
