Giants Lose Tony Mendez Monday, June 27th , 2050 Watching Tony Mendez getting helped off the field today at Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, fans of the San Jose Giants feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the catcher will miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring strain. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Mendez suffered the injury stealing a base in the game against the Suns. For the season Mendez is batting .237 with 55 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 25 times and batted in 25. |
