Playoffs? No Chance for Reading Wednesday, September 14th , 2050 After a tough year, the Reading Fightin Phils have been the butt of jokes around many water coolers in the Reading area. There will be some new fodder for jaded fans to discuss now -- the club was officially eliminated from playoff contention today. The Fightin Phils have made the playoffs 16 times in their 35 years as a Eastern League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 5th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2045. In the last 10 seasons, the Fightin Phils have made the playoffs 4 times. Reading last won the World Series in 2016. |
