Sljivancanin Hurls 5-0 Masterpiece Friday, September 23rd , 2050 Velimir Sljivancanin shut out the Altoona Curve 5-0 on a 9-hit masterpiece for the Tennessee Smokies at People's Natural Gas Field today. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Tennessee skipper Akil Baddoo said afterward. Sljivancanin registered 3 strikeouts and issued 6 walks in pitching a gem. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Altoona manager Nate Hudson after the defeat. For the season Sljivancanin has made 15 relief appearances, recorded no saves, compiled a 3-20 won-lost mark and a 6.56 ERA. In pitching 156.1 innings, he has totaled 146 strikeouts and 124 walks. |
