Akron Wins Conference Championship Thursday, October 20th , 2050 The championship aspirations of the Akron RubberDucks are still alive and well, while the New Hampshire Fisher Cats are left to wait until next year. Akron won the clinching game of the Conference Championship 6-5 over New Hampshire at Canal Park, to win the series 4-2. "You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said designated hitter Ricky Deen, who paced the Akron offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit." Deen claimed the MVP by racking up 8 hits for a .381 average, with a .435 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 2 runs. The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes. |
