Granados Gets Award for Relief Work Wednesday, November 9th , 2050 Robby Granados of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats proved this season that age is just a number, as the 34-year-old relief stud turned in a season that was better than all his American League peers.
"Winning the Reliever of the Year at age 34 is something I didn't really expect, but I'll take it," he said.
Granados's strong season saw him fashion a 2.01 ERA through 89.1 innings. He had 7 saves in 39 relief appearances and also put up 93 strikeouts and 23 walks. Opponents hit only .219 against the tough reliever.
He received 24 first place votes out of a possible 30. Nate Myers of the Birmingham Barons finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Andy Zecher of the Frisco RoughRiders finished third with 1 first place vote.
