Mobile's Smith Takes 2050 Most Valuable Player Award

The future looks extremely bright for Mike Smith. At the age of 22, many players are still trying to find their way in Eastern League.
Smith has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the National League Most Valuable Player Award.
"I didn't expect to hit .288 this year, that's for sure," the shortstop said.
The Mobile BayBears star also put up a .378 on-base percentage this year, with 134 hits, 29 doubles, 6 triples, 4 home runs, 53 RBIs and 66 runs scored.
He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 30. Jamie Mims of the Colorado (EL) Rockies finished second in voting with 10 first place votes, while Kevin Kantor of the Mobile BayBears finished third.
