Hat Trick of Home Runs for Puccio Monday, January 24th , 2050 Stockton Ports first baseman Brian Puccio almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 5 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats. The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Ports to victory. The Carolina Mudcats escaped with the 11-6 win by the Carolina despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Puccio. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. Brian Puccio struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Tony Icamen in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Tony Icamen in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Outa Tamura in the 8th. "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Stockton manager Matt Orlando. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the A Division. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good California Winter League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it." So far this year Puccio has 13 home runs and a .236 batting average. |
