Mavericks Advance to World Series Tuesday, February 1st , 2050 The High Desert Mavericks are bound for the World Series. A 3-0 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm at Lake Elsinore Diamond ended the Championship Series, 4-2. "We're not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but it's hard not to get pumped up and excited and think about how this season could end," said Matthew Starr. "This could be the biggest celebration High Desert has ever seen if we can win the World Series." The state of the California Winter League championship remains in doubt, but the Mavericks certainly appear to be strong contenders. Starr was named MVP of the Championship Series after he posted a .333 batting average, while adding 3 home runs, driving in 8 RBI and scoring 4 runs. The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Championship Series finishes. |
