Blue Jays Bargman Sizzles with Cycle Wednesday, December 14th , 2050 Dustin Bargman did everything he could for the Dunedin Blue Jays today -- literally. The 26-year-old shortstop hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Blue Jays, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-1, at BB&T Ballpark. "Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Bargman reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat." In a game headed for the record books, Bargman banged out 4 hits in 4 at-bats and totaled 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck." "A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle." Dustin Bargman singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Julio Quintero in the 5th and tripled in the 8th. This season Bargman is batting .311 with 1 RBIs, 9 runs scored and 1 home run. |
