Great Day for Hilario -- 5 Hits Friday, December 23rd , 2050 Fort Myers right fielder Jose Hilario had a big day at Charlotte Sports Park today against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The 23-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led the Miracle to a 13-9 triumph over Charlotte. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Hilario said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Jose Hilario doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th. This year Hilario has collected a .291 batting average to date with 16 hits in 55 at-bats, 4 RBIs, no home runs and scored 4 times. He has played in 18 games. |
