LaMotte Beguiles Burlington Monday, May 23rd , 2050 John LaMotte led the Greenville Drive to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Burlington Bees at Fluor Field at the West End today. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," LaMotte recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." LaMotte yielded 6 hits and had 10 strikeouts and 1 walk in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Burlington manager Alex Young said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching." In 10 starts this season, LaMotte has recorded 6 wins and absorbed 3 losses. He has pitched 75 innings, allowed 58 hits, struck out 63 and has a 1.80 ERA. |
