Charleston's Abreu Suspended Saturday, September 24th , 2050 Ernesto Abreu of the Charleston RiverDogs became belligerent after a third-strike call in the game against Lexington yesterday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Today, the RiverDogs left fielder addressed his battle with the umps and the ejection that resulted in a 3-game suspension by the league. Abreu said the league report submitted to the league by the umpiring crew did not tell whole story. "They conveniently left out the names they called me." In a statement the league said the suspension was because Abreu returned to the field after the first argument had subsided. Currently Abreu has 10 home runs and a .216 batting average. |
