The Greenville third baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the American League has just picked him as its top hitter for September. In 23 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .349 with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and 13 runs scored. This season Cardenas is swinging the bat at a .298 rate with 157 hits in 526 at-bats.
