National League Top Player Is Gaona
Monday, November 21st , 2050
At the age of 20, Carlos Gaona of the Hagerstown Suns could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2050 was good enough to win the right fielder the National League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .332 batting average this year, as well as a .406 on-base percentage. He played 115 games and racked up 141 hits, 19 doubles, 7 triples, 27 home runs, 82 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
He received 26 first place votes out of a possible 30. Ron Mills of the Kane County Cougars finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Rafael Reyes of the Atlanta (MID) Braves finished third.
