Hits Blitz for Diamondbacks Cooke
Friday, January 14th , 2050
D.J. Cooke punished the Tampa Bay (WIN) Rays today, leading the Diamondbacks to a 8-0 win. In doing so, Cooke hit for the cycle, tagging the Rays for 4 hits in 4 at-bats.
A player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game is one of the more unusual feats in professional baseball and typically happens only a couple times per season.
"Well, I didn't expect that to happen," the Arizona (WIN) third baseman said after the game. "I got some great pitches and I hit their mistakes."
Cooke also had 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the game at Louisville Grounds.
D.J. Cooke doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Tung-chi Tian in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Cooke has 1 home run and a .254 batting average.
