Durgin Booms 3 out of the Park
Thursday, December 22nd , 2050
Miami (WIN) Marlins right fielder Adam Durgin put on a dazzling display of power today at Roger Dean Stadium against the Cleveland (WIN) Indians. In the 8-0 Marlins victory Durgin penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Cleveland (WIN) manager Alex Lavisky said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 25-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Durgin said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Adam Durgin hit a two-run home run off Matt Zambon in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Matt Zambon in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off John Roe in the 7th.
This season Durgin is swinging the bat at a .274 rate with 20 hits in 73 at-bats. To date he has hit 8 home runs, scored 11 runs and driven in 15.
