Marlins Cruise to Quarter-Finals with Sweep Monday, October 18th , 2049 Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Western League Round 1. It turned out quite a bit different. The Miami Beach Marlins swept aside the Americus Braves to advance to the Quarter-Finals, winning the final game by a 4-3 score at Miami Beach Stadium. The series MVP was third baseman Timo Myers, who hit .556 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. "We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
