Stannard Belts 3 HR for Avalanche Sunday, July 17th , 2050 Colorado Avalanche first baseman Carlton Stannard had a magnificent game against the Houston Colt .45's today, rocketing three balls out of Colt .45's Stadium to help the Avalanche take the 8-3 victory. "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes." For the game, Stannard went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Colorado manager Norman Veldwijk said later. "Seems like Carlton found his home run stroke today." Carlton Stannard struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Steve Ramsey in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Jordan Vasquez in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Sam Williams in the 9th. Looking at his stats this year, Stannard has compiled a .426 batting average, while hitting 43 home runs and driving in 72 runs. He has played in 57 games and scored 54 runs. |
