Red-Hot Bat: Thomas Collects Cycle Sunday, July 31st , 2050 Joe Thomas truly did it all at Brockton Fields today. The Windy City ThunderBolts second baseman hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 13-11 over the Brockton Rox. "You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Thomas said later. "It was a heck of a feeling." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Brockton pitching for 4 hits in 7 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Thomas also racked up 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored in the game. Joe Thomas flied out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Larry Dougan in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th and hit an RBI double in the 12th. This season Thomas is batting .253 with 68 hits and 15 home runs. He has scored 45 times and has 46 RBI. |
