De Angelis Rips Elizabethton for 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Jay De Angelis as he led the charge to a 27-1 win over the Twins. The Texas (APP) left fielder was pure misery for the Elizabethton pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 7 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"De Angelis put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Kuan-yew Hoong, manager for the Twins, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Jay De Angelis hit a solo-shot off Andrew Rich in the 1st, singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
In his season totals De Angelis has 10 home runs and a .358 batting average.
