Hits Galore: Cruz Drills 5 Hits
|
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Gabriel Cruz is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Miami (APP) Marlins at American Legion Field today. The monster effort from the 19-year-old catcher helped the Danville Braves take the win, 29-2.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Marlins manager Ryan Butler. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Gabriel Cruz hit a three-run home run off Adam Brown in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a three-run triple in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
Cruz is currently batting .430 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs.
