5 Hits for Raptors Casey
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Ogden's 26-2 victory over the Miami (APP) Marlins, right fielder Mitchell Casey told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Appalachian League-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades today at Lindquist Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Marlins.
"His swing is getting there," said Raptors skipper Chae-ku Jou, who spoke glowingly of Casey after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Mitchell did that to perfection today."
Mitchell Casey walked in the 1st, singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Mike Wasson in the 8th.
Thus far this season Casey has hit .367 with 19 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 49 times.
