Verdusco Goes 5-for-6 Against Greeneville
Tuesday, September 27th , 2044
Detroit (APP) Tigers third baseman Billy Verdusco had a day to remember at Detroit Tigers Complex today, ripping apart the Greeneville Astros and sparking the Tigers to a 31-5 victory.
Verdusco wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Verdusco told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Billy Verdusco singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 5th, walked in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 8th.
In his season totals Verdusco has 5 home runs and a .311 batting average.
