Cardinals End Jones's Streak
Wednesday, October 19th , 2044
It was the best of both worlds for the Johnson City Cardinals today at Hunter Wright Stadium, as they defeated the Kingsport Mets 10-9 and also snapped Josh Jones's 25-game hitting streak. The 19-year-old Kingsport second baseman failed to get a hit in 1 at-bat.
"Nothing personal against Jones, we just wanted to win the game," said Cardinals skipper Julio Rivero. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Jones frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
This year Jones is hitting .374 with 5 home runs and 125 RBIs in 132 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .394 with 30 walks and 149 runs scored.
