Melillo on Fire, 5-for-6 Against Boston (APP)
Friday, October 28th , 2044
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Bobby Melillo, it came around today.
The 23-year-old third baseman scattered hits all over Calfee Park to pace the Pulaski Yankees to a 5-4 victory over the Boston (APP) Red Sox.
Boston (APP) skipper Drew Vettleson told reporters in the press room that "Melillo deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Melillo hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Bobby Melillo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 11th, flied out in the 13th and walked in a run in the 14th.
This season Melillo has hit at a .368 clip with 178 RBIs, 36 home runs and 223 runs scored.
