Washington (APP) Takes Conference Series in Deciding Game
Thursday, November 24th , 2044
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Kindrick Legion Field as the Conference Series stretched to the final game.
It was the Washington (APP) Nationals feeling the thrill of victory, with a 10-2 win over the Helena Brewers, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the World Series.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Helena manager Andy Webster. "Congratulations to Washington (APP), but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was right fielder Nate Melendez, who was named MVP. He hit .296 with a .367 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 12 RBI and scored 7 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Conference Series finishes.
