Going Once! Twice! Gone Again! 3 HR for Williams Saturday, October 29th , 2044 Sam Williams of the Shockers went on a hitting spree at Bailey-Brayton Field today and earned membership in the select club of hitters who have hit three home runs in a game. He blasted three into the stands in a 11-9 loss to the Washington State University Cougars. "I'm not happy with the outcome of the game, but it was still a great game for me," Williams said in the clubhouse following the loss. "I have been making solid contact lately, but not getting any lift. Today I got it up in the air and out of the ballpark. I had my home run swing down pat. Got some good pitches to hit, too." The Wichita State University first baseman did indeed have quite a game, collecting 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. Sam Williams hit a solo-shot off Danny Clarke in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Danny Clarke in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jordan Wyatt in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. Williams is hitting .367 for the season with 20 home runs, 43 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has 79 hits in 215 at-bats and played in 58 games. |
