Rowdy Players Suspended by League Saturday, November 26th , 2044 Yesterday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium Ryan Starks and Leon Gadsden got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Clemson University Tigers and University of Illinois Fighting Illini. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Starks will have to sit out 5 while Gadsden would be given a 3-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Starks is hitting .277 so far this season with 38 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 57 hits including 9 home runs, 14 walks and .336 OBP. This year Gadsden has notched no saves. He has 54 strikeouts and 44 walks in 67 innings while registering a 6.18 ERA and a 1-2 won-lost record. |
