Vanderbilt University Snaps Asch's Streak at 21 Friday, December 9th , 2044 Late in the game, all eyes in Klein Field at Sunken Diamond were on Josh Asch as he stepped into the batter box. His 21-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Asch, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Asch today, it was that his Stanford University Cardinal won the game anyway, stopping the Vanderbilt University Commodores by the score of 3-2. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Asch told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember." Asch is hitting .281 in 2044 with 31 RBIs and 11 home runs. |
