Cruz Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
All game long, El Paso's Luis Cruz was rattling the walls at Southwest University park and banging out base hits against the Iowa Cubs. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Chihuahuas had a 34-6 victory.

Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 24-year-old right fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."

Luis Cruz hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Peter Croston in the 8th.

This year Cruz has socked 12 hits in 38 at-bats for a .316 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .447 pace and his totals also include 9 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
