Schumacher Hittin' on All Cylinders Sunday, July 23rd , 2045 It was a quite a day for Andy Schumacher at Fifth Third Field. He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is -- a single, double, triple and home run. The Toledo catcher accomplished the rare feat during his team's 8-2 victory over the Charlotte Knights. "I never even thought about hitting for the cycle and what do you know, I did it," he told BNN reporters at the postgame press conference. "The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it's the win that's important." Schumacher went 4-for-4 in the game with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Andy Schumacher singled in the 1st, tripled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Takahide Watanabe in the 5th and hit an RBI double in the 7th. For the season Schumacher has hit .231 with 8 home runs and 28 RBIs. He has played in 81 games and scored 29 times. |
