Red Sox Get Zilch in 5-0 Loss to Bulls, Averette Friday, August 25th , 2045 Jim Averette kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Durham Bulls were all smiles after winning 5-0 against the Pawtucket Red Sox at Durham Bulls Athletic Park today. The right-handed Averette gave up no runs in his start, permitted 4 hits and had 5 strikeouts. "If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Averette said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be." This year Averette has made 24 starts, thrown 154.2 innings, fanned 122 batters and walked 62. His won-lost record is 13-8 with a 2.79 ERA. |
