AL's Top Player, Lopez of Columbus Monday, August 28th , 2045 So far in his young career, Carlos Lopez has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the American League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 24-year-old Columbus Clippers shortstop hit at a torrid .500 clip as he collected 12 hits in 24 at-bats, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Lopez has a .246 average and a .302 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 77 hits, 10 home runs and driven in 37 runs. |
