Aces Smack Booms 3 HRs Saturday, September 2nd , 2045 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Iowa Cubs today. Reno left fielder Joe Smack tripled up on the home runs to propel the Aces to the 14-4 win at Principal Park. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Iowa manager Lapaela Girawheen said. "Smack hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Smack collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Joe Smack hit a solo-shot off Josh Ready in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Nate George in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Julio Arteaga in the 6th, walked in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. Currently Smack has 8 home runs and a .279 batting average. |
