Mike Gross Drills 3 HR in One Game
Thursday, September 7th , 2045
Mike Gross of the Clippers went on a hitting spree at Coca-Cola Field today and earned membership in the select club of hitters who have hit three home runs in a game. He blasted three into the stands in a 10-7 loss to the Buffalo Bisons.
"I'm not happy with the outcome of the game, but it was still a great game for me," Gross said in the clubhouse following the loss. "I have been making solid contact lately, but not getting any lift. Today I got it up in the air and out of the ballpark. I had my home run swing down pat. Got some good pitches to hit, too."
The Columbus first baseman did indeed have quite a game, collecting 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scoring 3 runs.
Mike Gross hit a solo-shot off Jose Saenz in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jose Saenz in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Vinny Zavala in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
In this current campaign Gross is hitting at a .207 clip with 25 home runs and 71 RBIs.
