Sullins Retires 27 Straight Batters
Sunday, September 17th , 2045
Gwinnett Braves starter Justin Sullins was as good as a pitcher can be today, as he hurled a perfect game against the Iowa Cubs.
In doing so, Sullins accomplished one of the most difficult feats in baseball and one that will put his name in the record books.
"I can tell you I've dreamed about a day like this," Sullins told the press after the game. "Now that I've done it, the feeling is even better."
In his splendid 16-0 victory at Coolray Field, Sullins yielded no hits, walked none and had 17 strikeouts. In the historic outing he retired 27 successive batters.
To date this year Sullins has fashioned a 2.55 ERA over 190.2 innings with a 16-6 record. He has made no relief appearances with 180 strikeouts and no saves.
