Birmingham Downs Akron as Castro Tosses 7-0 Shutout Thursday, July 27th , 2045 Mario Castro held the Akron RubberDucks to 6 hits and fashioned a fine 7-0 shutout at Canal Park today. Speaking after the game, Birmingham Barons manager Lewis Brinson said "Castro had everything going for him today. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement. He was masterful." Castro rung up 4 strikeouts and surrendered no walks in the game. "We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Akron manager Alex Vargas told reporters. Checking out his stats for the season, Castro has registered 7 wins and 3 losses in 12 starts, 1.82 ERA and struck out 65 batters in 74 innings. |
